Owners of the Argosy casino in Lawrenceburg are not only rolling out their new $335 million riverboat and brand at the end of the month, but 250 new jobs to go with them.
General Manager Tony Rodio says the new Hollywood casino is a state-of-the-art Las Vegas style venue. He says the size and sheer magnitude of the facility prompted the need for more employees, especially in the areas of table games and food and beverage. The new Hollywood casino is expected to open June 25 or 26, a week earlier than scheduled.
The company is looking at a few different alternatives on what to do with the existing casino. Rodio says they looked at other uses including converting it or relocating to other riverboat locations.
Argosy parent Penn National Gaming Inc. will most likely put it up for sale.
Construction for the new casino started two years ago, but planning for it began roughly five years ago.
Table games will increase at the new casino from 60 to 88. In the Poker Room, poker tables are increasing from 17 to 41.
