Health Care
Dearborn County has a number of medical services available to its residents. These services include the availability of 150 physicians, 10 dentists, and one of the largest twenty-five hospitals in the Tri-State area.

Dearborn County Hospital
Located in Lawrenceburg, IN, has 84 licensed beds and features a variety of services and technologies. Technology services include capsule endoscopy, endovascular repair, checkmate for mammography, Hawkeye PET/CT imaging, and lung cancer screenings.

In addition to the great care provided by its own hospital, Dearborn County also has the medical resources of the Tri-State area at its disposal. The Tri-State area offers twelve major health insurance plans and over twenty-five physician groups. The Greater Cincinnati region boasts several hospitals recognized nationally for their services.

The University Hospital: Named one of the Top 15 Teaching Hospitals in the U.S by Solucient. The following programs were ranked in the Top 50 programs in the nation by U.S News and World Report: America's Best Hospitals 2005.

Cincinnati Children's Hospital: The Children's Hospital is nationally known for its pediatric care. The hospital was ranked eighth among all U.S pediatric hospitals by U.S News and World Report: America's Best Hospitals 2005. Cincinnati Children's Department of Pediatrics was also ranked as the fourth best program in the county at a medical school by U.S News and World Report.

Jewish Hospital: Has the only adult bone marrow transplant program in the Tri-State area. The Jewish Hospital Cholesterol Center is renowned for the treatment of cholesterol related diseases and disorders.

Shriners Hospital for Children: One of twenty-two Shriners Hospitals in North America. Provides treatment for acute burns, severe scarring, and performs reconstructive and restorative surgery. Medical care and services provided by the hospital are free of charge for the patient and their family.

The Drake Center: The hospital is a nationally recognized provider of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services in the Greater Cincinnati region. The Drake Center offers twenty-two outpatient services and several specialized programs.



Emergency Management Agency
Dearborn County's Emergency Management Agency prepares for hazards and coordinates relief efforts in the county. It also serves as a resource for the county's emergency departments. Preparation for hazards incorporates four areas: Response, Recovery, Planning, and Mitigation between local and state governments.

Emergency Medical Services
There are nine EMS districts in Dearborn County, each with their own emergency medical service care provider. The county also has life squads with locations in Greendale, Lawrenceburg, Aurora, Dillsboro, Moores Hill, Manchester, Bright, and St. Leon. All of the life squads but Lawrenceburg, which has a paid full-time team, rely on volunteers.

All life squad volunteers are certified Emergency Medical Technicians, in accordance with state laws and regulations. All life squads operate at least two ambulances. Manchester and St. Leon are the only exceptions.

Dearborn County is a short distance away from some of the finest trauma centers in the region. Both the University Hospital and Children's Hospital both have Level One trauma centers. A level one designation is the highest designation a hospital can receive. These two trauma centers are the only Level One trauma centers in Hamilton County. Air medical helicopter transport service is also available at the University Hospital.


Fire Service
Dearborn County is divided into 14 fire districts and served by 14 fire departments. The Fire departments of Aurora, Greendale, Lawrenceburg, Dillsboro, St. Leon, and Moores Hill serve their respective cities as well as portions of Dearborn County's unincorporated areas. Other outlying unincorporated areas and the remaining portions of the county receive fire coverage from various departments, both in-county and out-of-county.


Police Service
Dearborn County has eight law enforcement stations located throughout the county. Between these eight locations, there are over 110 full-time law enforcement officers and staff serving the county. There are five police departments (depicted in the table below), two Town Marshall stations, and one Rangers department.
